What are the objectives of a seminar?

The seminars seek to provide some value addition in understanding the
key issues or key insights and relies heavily on identifying key ideas. 
The value addition could come from a combination of the following : 
clearer problem definitions, a good summary, alternative (and perhaps 
simpler) explanations, similarity comparisons, contrasting comparisons, 
categorisations, illustrative examples, better figures/pictures etc.
