About

I am an ex-student of KReSIT, a programmer with experience in creating software architectures, designs and implementations. At present, I am working at Persistent Systems Limited.

This page is here to give you some information about my career/education and remind myself of fond memories of the Institute during my stay.

Stay

Even though my home was very close to IIT Bombay, I preferred to stay in the peaceful and serene environment of the Institute. Most of the time was spent in the computer lab at the department and a few hours at night and couple of hours in the afternoon were spent in my room (#103) at Hostel 3.

Courses

My thesis subject was Design and Evaluation of an IEEE802.11 based Dual MAC for MANETs under guidance of Prof. Sridhar Iyer (sri) and Leena Chandran Wadia. Most of the ideas about this topic and other topics on Networking/MANETs were discussed and reviewed during Mobile Networking group meeting. Apart from progress meetings with sri, lot of discussions used to happen in Leena's cabin and the coffee sack. Attendees used to be a subset of people from - Sri, Leena, Vijay Raisinghani, Srinath Perur, Vikram Jamwal, Manoj Chinnakotla, Shruti Mahajan, Ajay Singh, Abhishek Goliya, Deepanshu Shukla, Anupam Goyal, and I.

During first semester my project seminar was survey of 3G and GPRS Wireless systems.

Other courses I attended were: Mobile Computing, Distributed Systems, Performance Evaluation of Systems and Networks, Wavelets, Data Mining, Embedded Systems, Database Management System, Software Engineering. For details see Course Details page.

Activities

I was an active member and tech-talk secretary of the IT Association (ITA), whose main job was to organize technical talks by the students, professors, visiting professors and people from industry. As an ITA member, I was also involved in organization of following workshops and courses:

Most of my junior students will probably remember me as a tough task-master as one of the Teaching Assistants for the IT Foundation Lab. I was also Teaching Assistant for Embedded Systems course (Spring 2002).

My classmates fondly gave me the name bhagwan (some used to call me sadhu bana shaitan ;) ) since I was placement representative of my department during 2003 placement season (jobs were hard to come by during that placement season). I was also considered to be one of the fan-boys of Linux, a die-hard vim user (and local expert) (my classmates would say that my to-be-wife's name should be vim-la), and fond of man pages.
