Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Adilabad

Area

Kawal wildlife sanctuary is spread over an area
of 893 sq. kms. in Adilabad district and is at a
distance of 50 kms. from Mancherial and 250 kms.
from Hyderabad.

Climate
-------
Climate is generally hot and dry except during
the South-West monsoon in the months of June to
September.

Flora
-----
It is mainly covered with tropical dry deciduous
forests. The soil of the forest produces a
gregarious crop Acacia leucophloea (Tella
tumma).

Fauna
-----
In Kawal Sanctuary, Muntjac (Barking deer), a
rare species is seen.

How to Reach
------------
50 kms. from Mancherial and private transport is
available

At about 280 kms. by road from Hyderabad, It is
easily accessible by State owned bus services.
Nearest Airport is at Hyderabad.
