About the Informatics Lab
The Informatics lab supports Academic and Research activities in the
areas
of databases and software engineering.
Facilities
The lab has a Sun UltraSparc 10, a 2 processor Xeon based NT server,
as well as a large number of PCs running DOS and Linux.
Available software
The lab has a wide variety of commercial database software,
including copies of Oracle, Illustra, and Sybase.
In addition, there are several projects currently developing software in
the lab. These include a multi query optimizer,
a query result caching system, and a parallel database system Brahma.
Policies
The lab is open 24 hours to all staff and students who have been
authorized to use the lab.
Staff Profiles
Mrs. Vijayalakshmi
has been instrumental in the past in
setting up the hardware and software, and generally keeping the lab going.
Users of the lab
The users of the lab are primarily students doing their M.Tech. or
B.Tech. project in the area of databases or software engineering.
