Mumbai Navigator with Maps

Mumbai Navigator plans travel within the city of Mumbai using BEST buses and local trains, and also gives information relating to bus routes. This is a preliminary release available only through Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Screen resolution 1024x768 is recommended.

Basic Features:

Double-click to zoom in, and drag to pan. Hold down the shift key and drag to zoom to a particular region.

The Maps: Google maps are used for detailed information about Mumbai city. You can select normal version or Hybrid version of google maps from right top corner. You can see an overview map for panning purpose on right bottom of the map. The map provides different zoom levels.
Mouse click to see stop names: If you click mouse over the the red circles in the map, the name of the stop will pop up and that stop will be selected.
Selection through map/menu: Stops/stations can be selected either through the menu, or by clicking on the red circles in the map. The bus routes through the selected stop are automatically listed in the white box in the center.
Textual search through stop/station names: Type the string and the matching names will show up, and they will also be shown in the map using markers.
Bus route information: If you wish to see the route of a bus select it in the tiny window marked "Bus Route Information" (at the left bottom of the page), and the route will be shown in the maps.

Travel Planning:

Please select the origin and destination of your travel and then click on "Generate Plan".

To select origin and destination:
        First select desired origin/destination from Menu or map.
        Click the corresponding button to set the selected stop as origin or destination.
        The selected origin/destination name will appear in front of text: "Your selected Origin"
        If origin is available on ap, it will be showed using green marker where as destination will be shown with red marker.
The travel plan will include an estimate of the total journey time including the waiting time. The plan may require you to change buses or trains, and at each change you may be required to board a bus or train from the several given.

Generated plan can be seen on the map: Once you select the origin and destination, clicking the "Generate plan" button will show the plan. If you click on the segments of the plan (links shown in blue) you will see the corresponding segments in the map.

Please note..

On the first visit to the site it might take long to load the maps and related data. However, please persevere: the data will get cached on your computer and when you visit the site again it will start up very fast. The site is designed for Firefox and Internet explorer.

We do not have the geographical coordinates of all bus stops at present. So these stops will not be shown on the maps. The coordinates of bus stops/Statiosn are approximate and may not be accurate. We hope to update this soon.
