Past Events

  • Valedictory Function: The Valedictory function for the passing out batch of the year 2004 (both Mtechs and Btechs) was held on the 18th of April 2K4. It was a wonderful time with the seniors and saw great participation from the seniors and juniors as well as faculty.

  • ACM ICPC - Workshop: Inter Collegiate Programming Contest conducted by ACM is one of the most prestigious programming contest. CSEA conducted a workshop on 17 April 2004 in which students from IITB who had been to ACM ICPC World Finals twice told how to prepare and get through the tough competition to reach the world finals.

  • Traditional Day and Monday Tea: Department Traditional Day and the first Monday Tea Session were celebrated on the 6th March 2K4. It was a grand success with the involvement of whole of the faculty and students. Here is a detailed report on the same.

  • CSEA Elections: The CSEA Elections are done and the dynamic new council is up working with full enthusiasm :)

  • SecNet 2003:

    SecNet 2003 was fifth in a series of SecNet workshops, which started in year 1999. SecNet workshops were conceived by a group of professors and students with a primary goal of sharing information regarding various aspects of security and networking with professionals from software industry. SecNet1999 workshop was focused on "Unix Security and Cryptography" and SecNet2000 was focused on "Virtual Private Networks and Secure Internet Server". The key goal of SecNet 2001 was to provide information about current trends in Network Security and Mobile Wireless networking to professionals from the industry.SecNet2002 hightlighted Secure Electronic Transactions and Security in Wireless Networks. SecNet2003 primarily aimed at providing an insight of the theory behind network security measures, hands on experience to the open source tools, and an exposure to the industry standard implementations of network security solutions. The topics included were Secure Electronic Transactions, IPSec, Traffic Analysis and Privacy, Security in Wireless Networks. More information is available here.

  • Latex Workshop:

    CSEA join hands with the Computer Centre of IIT Bombay to organise a series of workshops on various topics. The first one was focused on imparting Unix crucials to the first year batch. The second workshop was dedicated to LaTeX. Prof. Uday Khedkar imparted LaTeX basics to over 500 people in the Lecture Theater.

  • Department Trek:

    In 2003 a department trek was organised by CSEA to Siddhagad. On the 21th of September 2003, a group of about 80 enthusiastic people went to the Nariwali village and a few of them even scaled the peak of Siddhagad temple. It was a real lot of fun. Last year, we conquered the heights of Gorakhgarh.

  • Freshies' Fundamentals Session 2003:

    The above session added to the cause by imparting to the freshies a concise set of indispensable facts that will help them to pick up other Unix fundaes fast. The speakers at the sessions were senior CSEA members and topics included - shell, processes, mail and news clients, basic network structure, X-Windows fundamentals and the crucial part on IIT policies about the usage of network bandwidth and lab resources.
