Fletcher 's first film part was as Baby Face in Bugsy Malone ( 1976 ) . He also played `` Byte 's Boy '' in the David Lynch film The Elephant Man ( 1980 ) . As a child actor Fletcher was a regular feature in British productions in the early 1980s such as `` The Long Good Friday `` and `` The Bounty `` . Later in his career , he was known for his work in the television shows GamesMaster and Press Gang . Fletcher dated Press Gang co-star Julia Sawalha and also had a relationship with Liza Walker . He starred in the films The Rachel Papers ( 1989 ) , Lock , Stock and Two Smoking Barrels ( 1998 ) and Layer Cake ( 2004 ) , as well as major BBC / HBO drama , Band of Brothers . In 2005 , he starred in Universal 's Doom as a commu nications officer nicknamed `` Pinky. '' He is currently starring in a BBC One series based on the Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous book , Hotel Babylon .
