New London Forum to discuss election plans.

Hartford, CT-The Green Party of Connecticut announced
today that New London will be the site of state wide party discussion
about running candidates in 2005 and in 2006 against U.S. Senator Joseph
Lieberman, Congressional candidates and a slate of state office
candidates including against Gov. Jodi Rell.

The Forum will be held at The Public Library of New
London, 63 Huntington Street, New London, at 12 noon till 3 p.m. on
Saturday April 2. The event is free to the public and welcome to anyone
curious about the Green Party in the state. Local candidates for town
and city in 2005 will lead the forum, followed by the plans for 2006.

Tim McKee, National Committee person for the Green
Party said, "Running a candidate against conservative Democrat
Joseph Lieberman has been the buzz in 'Progressive' or liberal circles
for months and The Greens are serious about running its first Senate
candidate whether or not a Liberal Democrats field a candidate in a
primary."

"Republican candidates for Senate have been very
weak in recent years with almost no big money or push, so Greens see
this as a great way to advance the our issues and gain as a political
party and grow numbers in the fall election in 2006."

Although the Green Party has not run state wide
candidates, except for President, two races have been run in the New
Haven, 3rd Congressional district. One candidate for Congress for the
5th District (against Congresswoman Nancy Johnson in Northwest CT area)
is to be announced soon, and there is strong interest in running a Green
Congressional candidate in the Second District against Republican Rob
Simmons, who has faced weak Democrat candidates.

"Running for the state offices such as Governor,
Lt. Governor, and Secretary of State will be a first for the Greens. We
have elected more city and town councilors (3 Greens) than any other
third party in the state, such Libertarian or Working Family Parties.
The Connecticut Greens have had good showings in the Presidential race
with over 65,000 Green voters in 2000, so running a state wide slate of
candidates for these offices is a goal for the Greens in 2006, "
McKee said.

"Across the country, 220 Greens have been elected in the US and
hundreds more have appointed to government boards and commissions,"
McKee added.

This forum will be the third in a series of
discussion forums held across the state, with previous forums in
Hartford, New Haven, and with other events to be announced soon.

For information about the forums or the Green Party,
