Peter Nicholas of Llanelli AFC
The final Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for 2006/07 goes to Llanelli boss Peter Nicholas who emulates Ken McKenna by winning the prestigious award for the second time this season. 'Nico' first won the Award in September and after a tremendous end to the season, his Reds side have secured an Intertoto Cup spot for next year.

The Reds certainly did it the hard way though and had to play seven League games in April, but they managed to win five of those and draw two to mark an outstanding unbeaten month, claiming seventeen points on their way. After a disappointing goalless draw at home to Caersws, the irrepressible full-timers scored thirteen goals in their final three matches at Stebonheath, recording wins over Bangor City (3-0), Cwmbran Town (5-1) and Porthmadog (5-0).

Their three away fixtures were all very testing encounters, but superb wins at Carmarthen's Richmond Park (2-0) and a triumph against Connah's Quay Nomads (1-0), as well as a 2-2 draw at Rhyl's Belle Vue were all outstanding results and mean that the Reds boss is a thoroughly deserved recipient of the Award to mark his team's return to European football.
Rhian Davis, manager of Principality Building Society in Llanelli said, "Congratulations to Peter Nicholas on winning this award and for getting the team into next season's Intertoto cup competition. The town of Llanelli is already looking forward to a European adventure and we wish the team every success.

"It's been a memorable season and as sponsors we look forward to another feast of football when the next Principality Building Society Welsh Premier Football League kicks off in August."

Ken McKenna of The New Saints

The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for March 2007 is Ken McKenna and he has become the first boss to win the Manager of the Month Award twice this year after also scooping the award in December.

The highlight of the Month for the Saints' boss was certainly lifting the FAW Premier Cup after beating Newport County at their own ground. The Saints became the first side to lift the trophy since Gary Barnett's Barry Town.

The League leaders also extended their lead at the top of the table following an unbeaten month and gained two good wins at home to Porthmadog and at the potentially tricky trip to Stebonheath against Llanelli. They also gained a draw at second placed Rhyl, which led to their rivals boss admitting that the Saints would go on and win the title.

Deborah Slawson-Davies, Manager of Principality Building Society in Shrewsbury said, "Well done, to Ken McKenna. He's done it again! A great month of results and things are looking good to clinch the top spot. I wish Ken and the team all the best for the final weeks of the season."

Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Manager of the Month - February 2007

Steve Bleasdale of Bangor City

The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for February 2007 is Steve Bleasdale.

After an indifferent start at the helm for the Farrar Road club, Bleasdale won his three games in February for a perfect 100% record and the Citizens faithful must be delighted that their side have finally produced some consistency. Throughout the month, Bangor defeated NEWI Cefn Druids (away), Connah's Quay Nomads (home) and Cwmbran Town (away), scoring seven goals, whilst only conceding one against the Nomads.

Bangor defeated a resurgent NEWI Cefn Druids comfortably 3-0, but their next game at Caersws was postponed during the snow whitewash weekend. They then defeated the Nomads, through goals for Marc Lloyd Williams, Ashley Stott and Mark Smyth and they followed that up with a 1-0 win at Cwmbran Stadium, with Smyth scoring his third goal in as many games. Bleasdale has almost transformed his entire squad since taking over in November and the emergence of youngsters such as Smyth, Stephen Wynne, Mel McGuinness and Michael Walsh under his guidance bodes well for the future.

Steve Bleasdale replaced Clayton Blackmore and became their fourteenth League of Wales / Welsh Premier Manager. He is former caretaker manager of League Two side Peterborough United and was the star of Sky Television's documentary called Big Ron Manager, which was screened on Sky One. After an excellent start at 'Posh', Bleasdale won five of his first seven games in charge, but the club immediately suffered a downturn in form with just one win in seven games. Bleasdale quit just an hour before Posh's game with Macclesfield Town, claiming that others had been interfering with the team, in particular Ron Atkinson who had been brought to the club in a "Football Troubleshooting" capacity for the show.

Before entering management at Peterborough United, he was assistant manager to Mark Wright at Chester City when they won promotion from the Conference, and was brought to the Posh again by Wright when he was appointed manager in the close season of 2005.

Thelma Mills, Manager of Bangor branch of Principality Building Society said, "Congratulations to Steve Bleasdale on becoming Principality Manager of the Month so early in his reign as Manager of Bangor City. Bangor have enjoyed a good set of results this year, not least their 3-1 win over Connah's Quay Nomads, one of this season's surprise packages. I would like to wish Steve and the team well for the rest of the season and hope they continue their winning streak."

Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Manager of the Month - January 2007

Tommi Morgan of Welshpool Town

The first award of 2007 goes to Welshpool Town's Tommi Morgan. The Lilywhites have been in tremendous form of late and they have gone unbeaten in January. The men from Maesydre have recorded two victories in the month, at home to Airbus UK and on the road at Llanelli, they have also drawn against Bangor City. But, it is the win at Stebonheath that really stands out as the most impressive as the Reds were previously unbeaten at home in the League this year. Morgan would be the first to admit that it is his whole squad that are contributing equally to the success of the team but special mention must go to players who continue to impress like 'keeper Ged McGuigan and forwards Calvin Davies, Aden Shannon and Steve Rogers who continue to score the goals for the team. Welshpool currently lie third in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier and a first venture in Europe is now a distinct possibilty.

Morgan is well known in the League having been in charge of Aberystwyth Town (1992 - Sep 1994), Carmarthen Town 1998 - Nov 2003, Rhayader (Oct 1998 - Dec 1998) and now Welshpool, whom he joined in May 2004. Morgan has also managed the Wales Semi Professional team. His award is well deserved and Tommi was presented with his Principality cheque before Welshpool's home game against Caersws on February 23rd, which they won 1-0 to consolidate third place in the League and maintain their push for a first ever European spot.

Ken McKenna of The New Saints

The charismatic TNS boss Ken McKenna is the final winner of the the Principality Building Society Welsh Premier Manager of the Month Award for 2006, after his side continued their excellent form throughout the month to win all four matches.

They began December with a well earned 2-1 home win over Haverfordwest County despite having Mike Wilde sent off with 25 minutes remaining. They followed this triumph with a 3-1 away win at the Oval against bottom club Caernarfon. Their match against NEWI Cefn Druids was postponed, but this didn't impair their form as they hammered fourth placed Welshpool on Boxing Day 6-0. They rounded the month off in further style by smashing seven past Airbus UK without reply.

Their free scoring frontmen and the attractive football the Saints play have helped McKenna's side notch an impressive eighteen goals in their four matches, whilst Ged Doherty and his defenders have conceded just two, and one of those against Haverfordwest was a Doherty Own goal!

Ken has taken TNS into Europe and three successive runners-up places in the Welsh Premier before clinching back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006, plus the Welsh Cup and League Cup trophies. Ken gained his UEFA 'A' Licence in 2004 and it is hoped that he will attend the Pro Licence as soon as possible to meet UEFA Licensing criteria.

Deborah Slawson-Davies, Manager of Principality Building Society in Wrexham said, "Congratulations to The New Saints on winning the Principality Player and Manager of the Month awards for December. The double-header shows how well the team have performed over the past month and I'd like to wish them every success for the rest of the season.

Ken will be presented with his award at TNS's home match against Carmarthen on Saturday 13th January 2007.

Brian Coyne of Aberystwyth Town

Brian is the fourth recipient of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Manager of the Month Award this season. His 'Black and Greens' had a great November and went unbeaten in League matches in the month, with victories over Caersws and Carmarthen Town and a draw against another in form side Connah's Quay.

The Seasiders also powered into the Semi Final of the Loosemores League Cup, shocking the then unbeaten League leaders, Llanelli in the quarter final at Stebonheath. During a long spell at Newtown, Coyne took the Robins into the UEFA Cup on two occasions as a result of finishing runners up in the League in 1995/96 and 1997/98. He took over at Cwmbran for a short spell before moving to Park Avenue last season, when Aber finished seventh in the table.

The presentation to Brian Coyne will be made at Park Avenue on a date to be arranged.

John Hulse of Rhyl
John is third recipient of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier Manager of the Month Award this season. Hulse's team have had a great October and their form this month has ensured that they remain hot on the heels of the League's two Professional outfits.

Rhyl's unbeaten month began with a comfortable Loosemores Cup win at home to Caernarfon and they then gained a draw in the League at Welshpool, the only match they failed to win in October. Comfortable wins over Newtown and Bangor in the League and League Cup respectively followed and Hulse's men showed great character to come form behind late on to defeat a spirited Haverfordwest County. Finally they put six past Caernarfon at the Oval to ensure that they went into November in third place, but level on points with leaders Llanelli and Champions TNS. Rhyl have also comfortably qualified for the Loosemores League Cup in pole position and gained the important home tie in the Quarter Final against Connah's Quay.

Their form this term is even more impressive given their injury record and with strikers Chris Sharp, Lee Hunt and Andy Moran as well as Paul Connolly and Conall Murtagh all congesting the treatment room in October, Hulse has ensured that his has built a squad that can cope with the Belle Vue injury jinx. Despite their crocked frontmen, they have scored a very impressive 23 goals in their six matches and Hulse justifiably gains the award.

Sally-Ann Ferrara, North Wales Retail Area Manager for Principality Building Society said, "Congratulations to John Hulse, for winning this award and for his achievements over the past few months. Rhyl FC have quickly established their position towards the top of the league table and we wish them continued success.

Peter Nicholas of Llanelli

Peter is the second worthy recipient of the Principality Building Society Manager of the Month Award. Reds fans will be delighted with their teams' form since their early start of the season and September has been a fantastic month for them, winning seven games out of seven. The highlight was certainly the 6-0 drubbing of Rhyl at Stebonheath and the Reds have also defeated both Welshpool and Newtown on the road.

After finishing as Runners-Up last season, Nicholas strengthened his squad by capturing the League's leading scorer, Rhys Griffiths from Port Talbot and he has already notched nine this season, including four against Rhyl. He also added Wales Semi Pro International Wyn Thomas as the back and Dale Griffiths from Merthyr and both have impressed. Rhian Davis, Manager of the Llanelli branch of Principality Building Society said, "Congratulations to Peter Nicholas, not only for winning this award but for his achievements over the past few months. Llanelli AFC has recently put the Principality Building Society Welsh Premier Football League on the European map and I'm delighted to see the side is continuing its winning ways."
"Principality Building Society prides itself on being at the heart of the local community, much in the same way as football and rugby clubs, up and down the country. That's why the partnership between Principality Building Society and the Welsh Premier Football League is so successful and we're delighted to be able to support our local heroes in this way." Peter will be presented with his £100 cheque by Representatives from Principality's Llanelli branch, at Friday's Home game against Haverfordwest County.

This month's Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month is Mark Jones of Carmarthen Town. Mark is one of the League's most charismatic figures, who has transformed the fortunes of the Old Golds since his arrival three years ago.

Despite a number of notable first team players departing the club prior to the start of the season like Luke Hardy, Wayne Jones and Neil Smothers and also the tragic loss of skipper Rhodri Jones, who was forced into premature retirement, Carmarthen have started the season with League victories over Caernarfon Town (H) and NEWI Cefn Druids (A) as well as winning in the Loosemores League Cup against Port Talbot (H) and Cwmbran (A) - They have also notched up a very impressive 13 goals in the process, whilst conceding just four.

Jones has looked towards the likes of Danny Thomas, Sasha Walters and Kris Thomas to become more influential players and the young trio have certainly responded with outstanding performances throughout August. The shrewd acquisition of Neil Thomas from Port Talbot as the club's new 'keeper has filled a problem position that became evident following Tony Pennock's move to Newport last year. Terry Evans, Liam Hancock and Tom Ramasut have been added to the defence, all of whom possess valuable Welsh Premier experience and Nathan Cotterrell has been inspired since he was handed the club captaincy - Another piece of great forward thinking by Jones.

It is a thoroughly deserved award for Mark, who will be presented with his award at a forthcoming match at Richmond Park, by a representative from the Principality Building Society's Carmarthen Branch.
