The winners are:

Amit Goyal and B S Radhika for CS 745 (Principles of Data and System Security) taught by Prof. RKSS

To quote Prof. RKSS,

"I am happy to nominate Mr. Amit Goyal and Ms. BS Radhika as TA of the month for the excellent work done towards the evaluation, assessment of project presentations as well as assistance in the final grading of the course CS 745."

2017-06-04 : Award for Teaching Assistant of the Semester : Spring 2017
The winners are:

1. Bhumesh Kumar (a DDP student from the EE department!) for CS 725 + CS 403 (Machine Learning) taught by Prof. Ganesh
2. Kireeti Gupta for CS 725 (machine learning) by Prof. Ganesh

To quote Ganesh,

"Bhumesh Kumar from EE TAed for my CS725+CS403 course having close to 270 students and provided spectacular help in multiple ways: (a) helped setting up two online (moodle) quizzes every week as well as challenging problems to solve in general (b) helped structure the two assignments and also lead the TA force very well in helping me examine the projects (c) the most impressive part was as follows. I used to publish a tutorial problem set every week and would spend some time outside classroom hours discussing the same. We realized that some students were not sufficiently opening up their doubts to me, he set up separate doubt sessions and announced his availability to the entire class. (d) and several other contributions. Without him, I would have found it very very difficult to manage such a large class satisfactorily."

"For the CS 725 course, Kireeti got everything done very very promptly - quiz and midsem correction, assignment evaluation (he worked very hard to help introduce some novel ideas for assignment setting and evaluations). And he very nicely organized project evaluations. Despite several parallel sessions of project vivas, I got the feeling that I was part of almost every project evaluation (even if I could attend only part of each evaluation)."

2017-04-04 : Award for Teaching Assistant of the Month - Feb 2017
The winners are

(1) Shudhatma Jain, Shubham Goel, Aditya Kusupati and Kushal Babel for CS 226+254 (Digital Logic Design and Lab, instructor: Prof. Supratik Chakraborty)
(2) L Rahul and Utkarsh Kumar for CS 101 (Instructor: Prof. Sunita Sarawagi)
(3) Sumith Kulal for CS 228 (Logic for CS) (Instructor: Prof.Krishna)

To quote Supratik,

"Shudhatma Jain, Shubham Goel, Aditya Kusupati and Kushal Babel are UG TAs in CS226+254 (Digital Logic Design and Lab), and have played pivotal roles in ensuring that students' concerns, be it of the weaker students or of the stronger ones, are addressed immediately at all points of time in the course so far. They've gone and met students in person to understand their issues, had extended sessions outside their regular TA hours with the instructor to figure out ways that these issues can be addressed. They've also taken special lectures to help students in both the theory and lab components, and have played a significant role in ensuring that the lab exercises and evaluations continue to be interesting and meaningful to students of varying capability levels. I recommend them strongly for the TA of the month award."

To quote Sunita,

"I would like to nominate L Rahul, a CS101 TA, for TA of the month award for the month of February. Rahul goes out of his way in his role as coordinator for setting questions for the graded lab and written exams. In addition, he has signed up as coordinator for the help session that is held every Friday evening. He has shown a lot of initiative in organizing other UG TAs to help students who have difficulty in understanding English. I did not expect so much enthusiasm from someone in their final semester of BTech. Utkarsh is the other coordinator of CS101 UG TAs. Utkarsh has been helping me even before the start of the CS101 semester. He is always willing to help CS101 students into any help they might require."

To quote Krishna,

"Sumith Kulal is a UG TA for CS 228 (Logic for CS). Sumith has taken a lot of effort in arranging help sessions for students who need extra help, by calling them up personally, and also keeping these sessions separately from the usual help sessions. Keeping these special sessions have been quite helpful for the needy students. I strongly recommend him for the award."

2017-02-20 : "Eminent Engineer" award for Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya
Institute of Engineers (India) has awarded Prof Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Professor, Department of Computer Science and currently Director IIT Patna "the Eminent Engineer Award" at their 31st National Convention of Computer Engineers held at Shillong on 3rd Feb. 2017.

2017-02-07 : Award for Teaching Assistant of the semester - July-Dec 2016
The awardees are Cynthia Josephine for Prof. Kavi Arya's course Embedded Systems (CS 684 ) and Rahul Bishain for Prof. Purushottam Kulkarni's course Data Structures Lab (CS 293).

To quote Kavi,

"The work of such TAs such as Cynthia goes a long way in delivering a quality experience to students. This includes
(1) proactively turning up as Lead TA and coordinating TA meetings and working to an action plan for each meeting.
(2) Helping refine assignments and labs and their orderly conducting and assessment
(3) managing student cribs after milestones and keeping track of attendance at labs
(4) having an opinion on how best to manage the workload of both students and TAs to bring the course to an orderly and timely closure.
This made for a satisfying execution of the course. As an aside I'll add that one of the course projects was submitted for a Samsung Innovation competition and won First prize."

To quote Puru,

"Rahul was proactive in all aspects of the course and was the go-to TA for the students, other TAs and for me. Every week he helped design the lab, verify its specification, generate test cases, independently verify solutions, re-verify, and provision it on the submission portal. He single-handedly interfaced with the bodhitree team for provisioning and evaluation of labs. I would rate him as one of the best TAs that I have worked with, and he was more like a co-instructor than a TA for the course."
