Research Groups and Laboratories
The CSE Department is equipped with state-of-the-art computer and networking facilities to support teaching and research. Computing facilities are organized into teaching and research labs.
- Software Lab(s): These are 3 labs : OSL(Old s/w lab), NSL(New s/w lab) and NSL-annexe. There are in total, about 200 machines. These labs are available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Digital and Microcomputing Lab: This is the lab used for teaching undergraduate courses in computer hardware.
- Post-Graduate Research Labs: These labs are meant for post-graduate students to carry out their project work. Each lab has about ten desktops and a few servers. There are five such labs:
- Graphics and Vision Lab
- Database and Information Systems Lab
- OS and Compilers Lab
- Artificial Intelligence Lab
- Networks Lab
- Sponsored Labs: Apart from the above departmental labs, there are well equipped sponsored labs associated with the CSE department. Check the individual lab pages for the labs:
The entire computing infrastructure is connected by a high-speed (100 Mbps) switched Ethernet network. Furthermore, the entire campus including hostel rooms and faculty housing are connected to the Campus Network. For details on IITB-wide networking and computing facilities please see Computer Center web-site.
