CS 742: Foundations of Network Security and Cryptography
 
Description

Vulnerabilities, risks, attacks, defences, forensics.
Examples and applications of Public Key Cryptography and Secret Key Cryptography. Crypto hash, digital signatures, digital certificates and PKI.
Basic Authentication and Key Agreement protocols, SSL/TLS and Kerberos. Vulnerabilities and attacks on TCP, DNS, ARP, etc. and DDoS attacks.
Network/host intelligence gathering and reconnaissance methods.
Web security – SQL injection, XSS, etc. Software security and buffer overflow. Malware types and case studies.
Access Control, firewalls and host/network intrusion detection.
