Title: Security Issues in Sensor Clouds
Dr. Vimal Kumar, University of Waikato
Date & Time: February 5, 2019 17:00
Venue: Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Conference Room, 01st Floor, Kanwal Rekhi Building
The sensor cloud is a new computing paradigm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), which facilitates resource sharing and provides a platform to integrate different sensor networks where multiple users can build their own sensing applications at the same time. It enables a multi-user on-demand sensory system, where computing, sensing, and wireless network resources are shared among applications. However, such a complex system with multiple network owners and multiple users running applications on the sensors, creates a number of security and privacy challenges. In this talk I will discuss some of the challenge like, secure data aggregation, access control of data and secure code dissemination that need to be addressed before a sensor cloud system can be built.
Speaker Profile:
Dr. Vimal Kumar is a lecturer in Computer Science who specialises in wireless sensors and security. He has previously worked on the development of secure wireless sensor networks and sensor clouds. His previous research has been funded by Florida Center for Cyber Security (FC2) and Cisco. Dr. Kumar leads the Cyber Security Laboratory (CROW) at the University of Waikato. His current research interests are in the areas of Internet of Things, Secure sensor clouds and Secure cloud computing. He is the co-editor of the book "Data Security in Cloud Computing" and the lead author of the forthcoming book "Secure Sensor Clouds".
