The .NET Language Integrated Query (LINQ)Framework
Dinesh Kulkarni, Senior Program Manager, Visual Studio, Microsoft Corporation
Date & Time: June 15, 2007 11:00
Venue: SIC-301 classroom, C Block, 3rd floor, Kanwal Rekhi Building
Modern applications operate on data in several different forms: Relational tables, XML documents, and in-memory objects. Each of these domains can have profound differences in semantics, data types, and capabilities, and much of the complexity in today's applications is the result of these mis-matches. Luca Bolognese, LINQ Lead Program Manager, explains how Visual Studio code name "Orcas" aims to unify the programming models through LINQ capabilities in Microsoft Visual C# and Visual Basic, a strongly typed data access framework, and an innovative Application Programming Interface (API) for manipulating and querying XML.
Speaker Profile:
Dinesh Kulkarni is a Senior Program Manager working on the LINQ project in the Visual C# Product Unit at Microsoft. Currently he is focusing on LINQ to SQL and has previously worked on its precursor technology ObjectSpaces and ADO.NET DataSet as a program manager in the SQL business unit at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dinesh worked in technical leadership roles for companies ranging from early stage software startups to IBM. Dinesh holds a Ph.D. (CSE) from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana and a B.Tech. (EE) from IIT Bombay, India.
