Abstract:
Query processing for large scale data warehouses poses unique challenges. In this talk I will give a brief overview over Greenplum DB and typical application scenarios. We will look into current approaches to query optimization and their problems and discuss areas for future research.
Speaker Profile:
Florian Waas likes to work on data processing issues of all kinds. He's a software architect with Greenplum Inc., a startup in the San Francisco Bay Area which strives to redefine the way companies do data warehousing today. Prior to joining Greenplum, he has worked for several European research consortia, Microsoft Corp., and Amazon.com (http://Amazon.com). He holds a PhD from Amsterdam University.
