MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) is a powerful act by Govt of India envisioned to alleviate poverty from rural areas by providing unskilled employment to rural households which will create useful infrastructure (such watershed development works, agriculture land development, social forestry, forest conservation, roads etc) in the village.
I am working on improving MGNREGA implementation for Maharashtra state since last one and half years. My approach is through procedural reforms or systems improvement. While studying for this cause, I observed the unique beauty of Andhra Pradhesh e-Governance model of MGNREGA implementation. This implementation demonstrates appropriate digitization and use of technology, a very pro-poor environment for development of villages, efficient administrative procedures, transparency in execution, proactive disclosure of information and innovations into the system.
I wish to discuss brief background of MGNREGA, Andhra e-Governance model of MGNREGA implementation and my mode of working for improving Maharashtra MGNREGA.
