I have a dual boot on my laptop(Ubuntu 20.04 & Windows 10). Whenever I boot into Ubuntu, my laptop overheats (it just acts like as I am playing a heavy game on windows) while everything is fine with windows. What can be the possible reasons and fixes?

There can be many reasons: 1. The laptop drivers are configured and optimised for Windows and using Ubuntu will cause heating problems due to inefficient energy usage. 2. Power management is extremely bad in Ubuntu(you can notice a significant reduction in battery life compared to what it was while using Windows) as Nvidia Graphics Card keeps on running all the time. This also produces a lot of heating issues.

You can check your battery stats using powertop:

sudo apt install powertop #installation
sudo powertop #running powertop, works only with sudo permissions
