Call for Papers

For over a decade and a half, the COMAD Intl. Conf. on Management of Data, modeled along the lines of ACM SIGMOD, has been the premier international database conference hosted in India. The first COMAD was held in 1989, and it has been held on a nearly annual basis since then  (except for a few breaks such as in the years when VLDB and ICDE were held in India). COMAD has always had a significant international participation, with about 30% of the papers being from outside India, including Europe, USA and East/South-East Asia.

The 13th COMAD will be held in December 2006, in Delhi, India. Similar to previous year, COMAD 2006 's scope will include not only traditional database areas but also add emphasis on Web, Information Retrieval and Data Mining. We invite the submission of original research contributions as well as proposals for demonstrations, tutorials, industrial presentations, and panels. The submission instructions are available at the conference web-site http://www.cse.iitb.ac.in/comad/2006/index.html.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

* Benchmarking and performance evaluation
* Data exchange and integration
* Data quality, cleaning and lineage
* Database monitoring and tuning
* Data privacy and security
* Data warehousing and mining
* Embedded, sensor, mobile databases and applications
* Managing uncertain, imprecise and inconsistent information
* Metadata management
* Multilingual data management
* Multimedia data management and mining
* Novel Data Types
* Parallel, distributed, and heterogeneous databases
* Peer-to-peer data management
* Personalized information systems
* Query processing and optimization
* Replication, caching, and publish-subscribe systems
* Text search and database querying
* Semi-structured data
* Social Networks
* Storage and transaction management
* Web services

To ensure wide visibility of material published at the conference, we plan to make arrangements with ACM SIGMOD for including the proceedings of the conference in the SIGMOD on-line and CD-ROM archives. Two awards, for Best Paper and Best Student Paper, will be presented at the conference. Further information and submission instructions may be found on the conference web site at: http://www.cse.iitb.ac.in/comad/2006/index.html
