The CPU (processor) can ``operate'' on
words read from memory.
What type of ``operations''?
- 1's complement (change 1001 to 0110)
- Add (without final carry) of two words
- 1011 + 1101 = 1000 (i.e. 11 + 13 = 8! figure this out!)
- Bit-wise AND of two words
These can be done in the ``hardware''
