This Course will have 1/2 assignments. They will be put up as soon as they are discussed in the class. For group assignments, the groups will also be put with the assignments.
List of Assignments
- Assignment I
- Design an experiment to obtain each of the following:
- Time to compute a message digest as a function of message size (message size varying from 1 byte to 100K). Experiment with MD-5, SHA-1 and SHA-256.
- Time to generate and verify signatures as a function of message size and key size. Experiment with RSA and DSA signatures.
- Time to encrypt and decrypt a message as a funcction of message size and key size. Experiment with RSA, ECC, DES and AES.
- Use the Pollard-Rho algorithm discussed in class (or any other) to factorize each of the following:
- 634466531498557649
- 525593565217803977808864775297576991
Your program should be able to accept an arbitrary size integer and output the factors.
-
Use the Pollard-Rho algorithm discussed in class (or any other) to compute the discrete logarithm of a given number y to base g modulo p.
Your program should be able to accept values for p, g and g^a and output a.
Note: All assignments are to be conducted in a group of at most 4 members. Only ONE SET of results is to be submitted per group.
Deadline : 31/08/2005

eg., 03329012_1 for a person with register number 03329029 and submitting the first assignment.
- There should be a README file in text format in this directory, containing your name, roll number and anything you want to tell about your assignment.
- tar zip this directory into a single file as follows:
tar -zcvf dirname.tgz directory
eg., tar -zcvf 03329029_1.tgz 03329029_1/
- Assigment file (the .tgz file) must be mailed to it653-assignments[at]it.iitb.ac.in
