Walk on the Water

Some of the interesting snippets from John Ortberg's 'If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat'

The book title, "If you want to walk on the water, you've got to get out of the boat" explains the intended message. So what the boat signifies? Your boat is whatever represents safety and security to you. Your boat is whatever keeps you so comfortable that you don't want to give it up.

The book talks about the fear,
Here is a deep truth about water-walking: The fear will never go away. Why? Because each time I want to grow, it will involve going into new territory, taking on new challenges. And each time I do that, I will experience fear again. As Susan Jeffers writes, "The fear will never go away, as long as I continue to grow."

And this is the interesting information in this book,
Failure is not an event, but rather a judgment about an event. Failure is not something that happens to us or a label we attach to things. It is a way we think about outcomes.

Anytime a gift is given, the recipient must choose to respond in one of two ways. The first way says, This gift is so valuable it can't be risked. The second way says, This gift is so valuable it must be risked. There is no tragedy like the tragedy of the unopened gift.

"You won't fail, when you have nothing to lose."
