Subject: [kvpta] minutes of meeting with parents of high school (9-12)

The focus of this meeting (held on Sunday, Jan 30, 2005) was on the
immediate problems for students who are taking the important Board
exams.

- It was important that students have a good handle on "practicals" in
science subjects (whether or not they get high scoring marks).

- An orientation meeting for parent invigilators of board exams is
desirable to enable the smooth conduct of the exams (e.g. in
distributing papers on time, availability of graph (check) papers,
  and the like).

- Indiscipline (whether the result of (in)actions on the part of
children, parents, or teachers) seems to be on the on. The school
authorities will be requested to disallow cell phones (with or
without cameras), and calling pizza houses to deliver food.

- A meeting of the teachers will be arranged on Feb 1 (after this
date, they will be busy with invigilating and conduct of exams for X
  and XII).

Note: I apologize for the short notice given, and also the fact that
it was not widely publicized. We did want to get some input to be
given to teachers of classes X and XII before they leave for board
exam work. Nevertheless, we do hope to make meeting notices available
in channels other than email.
