INTRO:
The 1st PTA executive committee meeting in 2005-2006 was held on
Principal's chamber on Feb 28, 2006. It commenced at 2:30 pm and ended
at 5:15PM.

DISCUSSION ITEMS:

+ PTA Exec comm noted that in the recent meeting of KV commissioners
it was stressed that the website development should be taken up more
vigorously at school, RO & HQ level. Websites should also be
updated on a regular basis to incorporate all major
activities/achievements. In this connection, principal listed some
of the achievements of the students.

+ The new slot system on Open House was appreciated. PTA thanks the
  teachers for making it possible.

DECISION ITEMS:

- Principal briefed the members on the recent Vidyalaya Managing
Committee (VMC) meeting (chaired by Director, Prof. Ashok Misra). The
VMC meeting included new members; it was noted that there were two
parents on this committee. A suggestion was made that one of the
parents from the PTA Exec Comm could be in the VMC in an ex-officio
  capacity.

- A suggestion book will be placed for parents to make comments when the
visit the school for open day.

- It was pointed out that the classrooms (built in the sixties) are
small for the number of students present. This is particularly a
problem in classes XI and XII (given the physique of the students).
It was decided to approach the VMC for building improvements such as
larger classrooms and indoor event hall.

- The General Body Meeting of all members (parents and teachers) needs
to be conducted. Sharat Chandran proposed that the meeting be held
in March, but this proposal was not felt desirable. It will now be
held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:30AM (expected). All parents
  are requested to come.

- A Sanskrit teacher would also be sought for in the next round of
  interviews for adhoc teachers.

INFORMATION ITEMS:

+ Principal clarified that KV Teachers are not expected to conduct
private tuition, and they are fully aware of this.

+ Email information will be collected for all 2006 incoming students.
All incoming students will be informed of PTA activities including
  the web site address.

+ KV Sangathan is hiring computer teachers, and KVIIT hopes to get
qualified teachers. The current problem in computer instruction stems
partly from "adhoc teachers" who have a high turnover rate.

+ Principal clarified that corporal punishment is not at all expected
  from teachers.
