INTRO:

The 3rd PTA executive committee meeting in 2004-2005 was held in the
Principal's chamber on July 24, 2004.  It commenced at 3:00 pm and
ended at 5:45PM.

All the members were present.

DECISION ITEMS:

- It was decided to give a letter of appreciation to Sameer Patwardhan
for his assistance in Chemistry classes, and for Nishant, Janak, and
Amit for their assistance in web page creation.

- The school and the PTA will make efforts to pursue the creation of a
Resource Room and a computer room keeping in mind the increased
demands for varied amount of academic and co-curricular activities
(e.g. physics workshop, quiz competitions, dance)

- The PTA exec comm proposed the new timings of the workshop with the
heading "Teachers of 21st Century".  It was agreed that this workshop
would now be held on 31st July 2004 (last day of the week) from 10:40
to 2:40 in the civil engineering seminar hall.  All the teachers of KV
will attend this workshop.  All parents are most welcome to
participate with prior intimation.


INFORMATION ITEMS:

- The principal brought to the attention of the members the new
co-curricular activities scheduled for the primary section (drama),
and the secondary section (coaching for wrestling, cricket,
gymnastics, and volleyball).  This is in addition to the existing
activities such as dance, football, skating, and basketball.

- The principal informed the members that the Bombay region of KVS has
sent to the head quarters of KV Sangathan the proposal

     + A new shift (primary only) to be introduced
from 12:30 to 5:30
     + The current shift would be changed to from
7:00 to 12:15

- 140 new children joined the school in Std I. About 110 students
joined Std. XI most of whom are students from KVIIT (from Std. X)

DISCUSSION ITEMS:

- PTA members reviewed the previous meeting minutes and discussed on
what has transpired so far.

- PTA members discussed at length corporal punishment related matters.
The principal and the vice principal reiterated KVS's stand that any
form of corporal punishment including spanking, and abusing is
strictly not-tolerated.  However, due to the serious nature of the
repercussions, parents have to bring to the attention of the principal
IN WRITING.  Members pointed out that the best form would be the
prevention of such incidents.

- Next executive committee meeting will be held in September.
