INTRO:

The 2nd PTA executive committee meeting in 2004-2005 was held in the
Principal's chamber on May 1, 2004.  It commenced at 3:00 pm and ended
at 6:05PM. 

All the members were present.

DECISION ITEMS:

- The PTA exec comm proposed a workshop with the heading "Teachers of
21st Century".  It was agreed that this workshop would be held on 30th
June 2004  from 10:50 to 2:50.  The Principal agreed to
send all the teachers of KV to this workshop.  All parents are most
welcome to participate with prior intimation.

- The Principal was very much concerned with the recent accident,
which took place just outside the IITB campus, in which the school
children were injured.  The school was denied the emergency help
(Ambulance) by the IIT hospital. PTA Secretary clarified that
amubulance is not provided as a matter of right to any staff member of
the IIT OUTSIDE the campus boundary.

PTA decided to write to the concerned authorities requesting for
emergency help in future.

- Shyama Iyer expressed concern about the children who do not have
computer at home and thus are not able to do their home assignments.
It was decided that as far as possible home assignments on computers
should not be made mandatory. The principal also explained that 31
computers were there in the Junior Computer Lab. One computer can
be shared by two students and they can do their assignments in the
school.

- PTA exec comm recorded its appreciation for the intense efforts put by
teachers and staff in the annual day events.


INFORMATION ITEMS:

- A circular about the formation of the PTA was circulated to all
parents. A "poster" version of this would come up just before the
school stars on campus notice board.

- Web site is up. Parents are requested to contribute to agenda items
by using the email form.

- Any information gathered on the web and other means would be
strictly monitored for privacy and other considerations.

-  Because of the health problem of one of the chemistry teachers,
Ms. Shyama Iyer would begin taking extra classes for organic chemistry
w.e.f. 5th May 2004. 

- In response to query from Alok Goyal, the Principal explained  the
policy of admission to the 11th standard.


DISCUSSION ITEMS:

- PTA reviewed the previous meeting minutes and discussed on what has
transpired so far.

ITEMS FOR ACTION:

- Vacation: The principal would get precise information on any
mismatch between the scheduled dates and observed dates in the
previous academic year.

- Next executive committee meeting was scheduled for  Tuesday, June
22.
