The following sentence is the correct replacement.

``The Chernoff information d^{*}(x, y) between two Bernoulli
distributions B(x) and B(y) is defined by d^{*}(x, y) = d(z^{*}, x) =
d(z^{*}, y) where z^{*} is the unique z \in [\min{x, y}, \max{x, y}]
such that d(z, x) = d(z, y).''
