Mentoring
- I am a Mentor for two courses on www.coursera.org: (i) Learning How to Learn by Prof. Barbara Oakley and (ii) Machine Learning by Prof. Andrew Ng.
- I have, on distinct occassions, taught basic programming skills in C and C++ to a couple of higher-secondary students.
- I have been a volunteer at Abhyasika doubt-clearing classes held for school kids of nearby Phule Nagar. Classes conducted under Group for Rural Activities (GRA), IIT Bombay.
- I have mentored other students of our girls' hostel in Badminton, Chess, Throwball and Kho-Kho.
- I have been instructor for a few sessions of Bharatnatyam for kids aged 7-12, upon request of my guru, Shri. S. P. Srinivasan.
Music & Dance
I am a music enthusiast. I was a student of Carnatic Classical vocals under guru Smt. Vijayalakshmi Rangarajan for 5 years, and a student of Carnatic Classical violin under guru Shri. Shekar Tanjorkar for 2 years.I was a student of Bharatnatyam (South Indian Classical dance) for 11 years under renowned guru Shri. S. P. Srinivasan, and performed at a few local venues. Awarded the Nritya Shivali in 2003. [Certificate].
Sports
I play sports like Chess, Badminton, Cricket. I would love to learn others like Lawn Tennis and BasketBall. Basically, I feel sports is the best way to stay fit - physically and mentally. BTW, it also takes your mind off of negativity, and lets you concentrate more on your positives. Recently, I have also taken up running, more seriously, having fun stretching myself to see how far I can go. Running long distances is much like a challenge to yourself, and it is a challenge that you can take up every day, provided there are no rains.Yoga class at IITB Staff Health Club is another good thing that has happened. My immunity is much stronger now than it has ever been before. Highly recommended.
