Information for Students Who Want to Work With Me

Research Areas of Interest:

Currenty, I am interested in all areas of Computer Graphics.

  • My specific interests include all of Animation, rendering and modelling for computer graphics, virtual and augmented reality, image synthesis and vision based graphics.

  • Though Graphics does not include Image Processing or Computer Vision, knowledge of these sister disciplines are often required and used in computer graphics.

Note: If you just want to learn or work in Computer Vision because of your interest in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligenece, please look elsewhere.

Instructions For Non-IITB Students

I am only interested in working with you if you want to do a PhD/MS in my areas of interest as given above. Please write to me or meet me directly in that case. You will be required go through the CSE@IITB post-graduate admissions procedure. This is detailed here.

I am not currently offering summer/winter internships, short term projects or BTPs to students from outside IITB. I do not have any project positions either.

Instructions For IITB Students

For Ph.D./M.S. Students:

  • If you are interested in doing a Ph.D./M.S. with me then please email me/meet me. You will be required go through the CSE@IITB Ph.D./M.S. entrance procedure. This is detailed here.

  • After your admission into IIT Bombay in the Ph.D. or M.S. Programme, please come and talk to me in person for further discussions about research in computer graphics.

For M.Tech. Students:

  • Prospective M.Tech. students can see the details about the admission procedure followed by CSE@IITB here.

  • The following courses are offered in the area of Computer Graphics by the department:

    • CS675: Computer Graphics (in the odd semester)
    • CS775: Advanced Computer Graphics (in the even semester)
  • Doing CS675 is mandatory for all students who want to work in computer graphics.

You can follow the following two routes leading to a M.Tech Thesis Project (MTP) in computer graphics.

Route 1

  • Take up CS675 and a Seminar with me in your first semester.
  • Take up CS775 in your second semester.
  • Ideally, start your MTP also in your second semester.

or

Route 2

  • Take up CS675 in your first semester.
  • Take up CS775 and a Seminar with me in your second semester.
  • Ideally, start your MTP also in your second semester.

Note that all follow-up seminars and MTPs depend on your performance in the previous course/seminar. Only students who take up a seminar in their first semester are exempt from this - i.e., they do not have to satisfy any pre-requisite criteria except for a very high level of interest in graphics.

Please feel free to email/meet me for more information.

For B.Tech./D.D. Students:

  • The following courses are offered in the area of Computer Graphics by the department:

    • CS475/CS675: Computer Graphics (in the odd semesters)
    • CS775: Advanced Computer Graphics (in the even semesters)
  • Usually you should have done both these courses to do a BTP/DDP with me. There may also be oppurtunities to do semester long RnD projects, which open up from time to time. For more information regarding topics, eligibility, etc., please meet/email me.

I am not offering any short-term summer/winter projects, internships.

For CMinds IDDDP Students:

Please meet me in person to figure out if the there is a suitable project oppurtunity for a DDP. Course requirements are usually the same as B.Tech./D.D. students, as mentioned above.
