How to download and start Memex

Disclaimer: We are making these Web pages available before making our service generally available based on the request of our internal testers. Memex has been tested on the following platforms:

Signing up

Visit the registration page to create an account. A password will be mailed to you. Your email will not be published or used for any commercial solicitation (we are not a business). You can also destroy your account if you wish to.

Getting started

When you click on one of the links below, this browser window (B1) will host the Memex applet, which will create two new windows:

You should minimize but preserve B1, otherwise the other windows will die. Continue Web browsing using B2.

On Windows, your first use of Memex may trigger the installation of the Java Plugin. In that case, follow those instruction instructions, restart Mozilla and return to this page.

Memex will ask for various permissions so that it can attach to your browser. It is perfectly safe to grant these permissions. For Memex to start and attach to your browser you must first visit the Memex applet page for each session. (In other words, there is no real "installation": you opt IN by visiting the applet page.)
