Prof.Jamadagni, Coordinator, Resource Centre of the IISC Bangalore of the IMPACT and SSS-IMPACT Project sponsored by Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India, met Prof.Rod Ibieta, University Manager of Intel Inc., and discussed with him about the possibility of getting the IXA kits for all the Resource Centres and Engineering Colleges under the SSS-IMPACT Project.

Prof.Rod had agreed to this suggestions and provided 100 IXA kits (each costing US 4500/-) for distribution in India. All these kits were distributed by the Secretary, Dept. of Information Technology on 16th December 2003 during the final workshop of SSS-IMPACT Project at Bangalore to all the Resources Centres and Participating Insitutions (except REC Rourkela, REC Kurukshetra and MREC Jaipur) under SSS-IMPACT Project and few other selected colleges India.

All the Resources Centres, Participating Institutions (except REC Rourkela, REC Kurukshetra and MREC Jaipur) and the other selected colleges have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Intel Technology (India) Pvt. Ltd. on receiving this donation to promote education on Network processors in their engineering course curriculum at undergraduate and graduate level.
