Enigma machine

The Enigma was a portable cipher machine used to encrypt and decrypt secret messages. Nazi's used this machine to encrpyt the machine during second world war. Some historians have suggested that the end of the European war was hastened by up to a year or more because of the decryption of German ciphers.

How to register

In order to register for SecNet 2006, please read the registration policy and fill the appropriate details in Registration Form. You will be shortlisted as seats become free. Once you are sent a shortlist notification mail, you are expected to pay the registration fees within 7 days of the notification. The payment mode is to be through DD either in person or by post of the appropriate amount in favour of 'Secnet 2006', IIT Bombay. The mailing address is

The receipt of of your DD will be acknowledged by e-mail. The paper receipt will be handed over on the first day of the event.

Note : Only DDs will be accepted. Cheques will NOT be accepted.

Registration Options

In the registration page, you can choose to have the Secnet organizers arrange accomodation for you in the campus for the duration of the workshop. This will add to the fees. See below for details.

This year, in lieu of the limited resources available, with the intention of increasing the reach of Secnet while maintaining the high level of quality at the workshop, the organizers have decided to reduce the number of workshop seats and provide additional seats for attending the lectures only.

Registration fees

We welcome participants from the Industry as well as Academia. Participants can opt for accommodation for the duration of the workshop. The fee structure for SecNet-2006 is as follows :

We offer a limited number of seats for the workshop. Hence, in the scenario where your registration fees haven't reached us within 7 days of shortlisting, we could be forced to offer your seat to the candidate who has registered next. Your registration still holds, subject to the availability of seats. We will accept your payment if it arrives before all the seats are taken. However, it is advisable to try and ensure that your fees reach us in time.

Are you Faculty or a Student?

Students and faculty are required to submit a letter from their institute, stating that they are bonafide members of the institute, at the time of payment of registration fees.

In case, the number of allotted seats for students/faculty are exhausted, interested participants can still register under the general category. Ofcourse, this is subject to availability of seats in the general category.

For students and sysads of IIT Bombay

The registration is ONLY for the lectures and will NOT include labs due to constraints on the capacity of the labs.

Registration fee for IITB Students is Rs. 500, and they have to bring their I-Cards during the workshop. The registration must be done using the registration form and payement must be done using DD/cash. Put 'IIT Bombay' in the text field for organization (without the quotes). Note that the registration fees is non-refundable. All people registering in this category will be provided with Course Material, a TShirt, Tea and Snacks.

Registration for Sysads of IITB is free. They have to bring a letter signed by their Lab-Incharge or the HOD. There is no need for registration. They will be provided only Course Material. Lunch and TShirt will not be provided to people registering under the Sysads category.
