Travelling Inside IITM

From the main gate at Sardar Patel Road, Adyar, two parallel roads, Bonn Avenue and Delhi avenue, lead you through the residential zone, under a canopy of green, to Gajendra Circle (called GC; this is the main landmark on campus with a fountain and two back-to-back elephants) and the administrative block. GC is about 2 Km from the main gate. The IITM buses commute, via GC, between the main gate, academic zone and hostels at frequent intervals of 20-30 minutes.

To Gajendra Circle (GC)

About 1 km from the main gate, on Bonn Avenue, you would find Vana Vani Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Proceed straight, past the school for about 1 km, to reach GC. Enroute, you would find the post-office (on your right), State Bank of India (left) and Kendriya Vidyalaya School (right).

Delhi Avenue runs parallel to the Bonn Avenue and the two roads meet at GC. The distance of the two routes is almost the same. However, the buses take the Bonn Avenue route only. A few notable landmarks on the Delhi Avenue are Jalakandeshwarar temple, Shopping Centre, Stadium and the Dept. of Management Studies.

ICSR building (conference venue)

ICVGIP 2010 is being held at the Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (ICSR) building. The building is very close to GC. From GC, take the Alumni avenue to the right of Bonn Avenue (straight road from Delhi Avenue). The ICSR building is the first building to the right as soon as you enter Alumni avenue.
