About IIT Guwahati

IIT Guwahati has been ranked among the top 100 of the world's dynamic young universities by Times Higher Education magazine. Established in 1994, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is the sixth member of the IIT fraternity. The academic programs at the institute were launched in 1995. IIT Guwahati has 11 departments and 3 inter-disciplinary academic centres which encompass all the major disciplines in Engineering, Science and Humanities. Within a short period of time, IIT Guwahati has succesfully set up world class infrastructure for carrying out advanced research and is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments. The Institute is situated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river and its 700 acres are endowed with lush greenery and picturesque landscape interspersed with hillocks and lakes. IIT Guwahati offers a friendly and pleasant ambiance which facilitates multi-dimensional growth of the individuals in the campus.

About Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering

The Department was established during the inception of the institute in 1995 as the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). In 2011, department was renamed as the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE). Currently, the Department offers two undergraduate programs:- "Electronics and Communication Engineering " and "Electronics and Electrical Engineering". The Department offers a vibrant environment for undergraduate, postgraduate education and research in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Faculty members along with the research scholars are involved in various advanced research activities. Department of EEE is well equipped with modern laboratory facilities, which exposes the students to practical aspects of engineering problems. With a balanced emphasis on theory and experimental work, the Department trains motivated engineers and scientists of international caliber.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, was formed in 1995. Since its inception, the department has always been recognized all over the world for excellence in research and teaching. The Department provides an outstanding research environment complemented by superior teaching for its students to flourish in. The major areas of research include Algorithms, Computational Geometry, Mobile Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Speech Processing, Natural Language Processing, Image Processing, Software Engineering, Formal Verification, Electronic CAD, Computer Systems & Security, Networks.
